We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of the Avalon team, Gavin Lin.

Gavin makes a great addition to our team. He shows enthusiasm in all aspects of his work, regardless of whether it's bookkeeping for 4 hours straight or creating the newest Ava-meme© in Slack. If you get the opportunity to work with Gavin, you will find he is quick to learn, witty and has excellent taste in music.

Without further adieu, here is a transcript from the latest episode of "Between 2 Monitors", an interview with Gavin Lin.

Tell Us a Bit About Your Work and School Background.

When I was in high school, I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to be but I took an accounting course and found that I quite liked it - I decided to study accounting at Camosun upon graduating from high school. I’m currently wrapping up my degree and will be enrolling in the CPA program. I've worked all over the place before finding myself here at Avalon. I’ve worked at the Shaw Center for the Salish Sea out in Sidney and at the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal for my co-op terms. I’ve also worked at a local racquet store as a store associate and a racquet technician.

What Interested You About Joining Avalon?

The Avalon website caught my eye and how they really set themselves apart from the other accounting firms in town. I resonated with the values of Avalon (especially buffoonery), and felt like I would be a great fit. Also, the people seemed alright.

Other Than Fun Times with Spreadsheets and Numbers, What Activities Do You Enjoy in Your Spare Time?

I enjoy playing racquet sports. All racquet sports. The main ones I play are squash and badminton. I’m also known around the Avalon office for my fondness of desserts. Lately I’ve been getting into rock climbing and disc golf as well. On the weekends, you’ll most likely find me doing something active around town.

What Would Your Friends Say is the Strangest Thing About You?

Probably my ability to nap anywhere and fall asleep in 30 seconds. Either that, or the names of my playlists.

Nas - Illmatic (bet you didn’t see that one coming).

What Was Your Favorite Cartoon to Watch When You Were Little and Why?

Dragon Ball Z because I wanted to be a warrior and protect the Earth from evil. Unfortunately for me, I found out that no matter how much I screamed and gathered my energy I couldn’t turn Super Saiyan.

Is There a Little Known Gavin Lin Fact That You Can Share?

Gavin hates popcorn.
