We are a growing online accounting services company and need a Full Time Accounting Technician to grow with us. You will work with enthusiastic team members who know that quality of life and enjoying your work is as important as getting your work done.

Accounting and bookkeeping compliance can be difficult for small business owners in Canada. Thankfully, Avalon Accounting is here to help! The “Accounting Technician” role is a major part of this and is all about making compliance easy for our clients.

Accountants at Avalon are responsible for a range of accounting and bookkeeping duties. These include preparation of year-end corporate financial statements and tax returns, personal tax returns and completion of catch-up bookkeeping projects.

This position requires public practice experience in a similar role. We will also provide on-the-job training led by our approachable and supportive team.

Responsibilities

Corporate Year-ends - Prepare corporate year-end financial statements and tax returns independently

Personal Taxes - Prepare personal tax returns of moderate complexity

Catch-up Projects - Complete catch-up bookkeeping work as needed

Recording Transactions - Record financial transactions such that financial information is accurate and consistent

Communication with Clients - Correspond with clients to obtain necessary information to complete work

Other Duties - Administrative work including compiling documentation, database management, time tracking and invoicing

Salary - Base salary range $40,000 - $52,000. Starting salary will be based on experience.

YOU

Experienced - Minimum two years of public practice experience within an equivalent role.

Knowledgeable - Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations and processes.

Educated - Have completed an accounting diploma or undergraduate degree.

Tech Savvy - Are tech savvy and interested in learning and researching the latest apps. We always want to know if there is a better way to do things.

Positive - Bring a positive mental attitude to all you do.

Organized - Are organized and not afraid of a challenge.

Communicative - Are comfortable communicating with clients over email and video chat.

Independent - Are open to flexible working - we need you to be available, but we won’t schedule you.

Skilled - Accounting software experience, skills and certifications are definitely helpful.
