Like a proud mama we’re always eager to pull focus and brag about our own. We don’t have the wallet (or personalized Instagram account) full of photos but we love to brag nonetheless.
Meet Kayla, one of our newest bookkeepers, commuting via monitor from Ontario. Kayla and her precious puppers Luna live in Perry Sound, but will be making their way into Kelowna (and way closer to us) soon! As one of our bookkeepers, Kayla deals directly with our clients on a regular basis, updating financials, filing sales tax returns, making payments, and supporting payroll.
We’re stoked to have Kayla become an Avalonian and without further ado let’s let her tell you a bit more.
Tell us a bit about your work and school background
Currently, I’m completing my Bachelor of Business Admin (Accounting) in Ontario online, but I’ll be transferring to Kelowna in January of 2021 to finish my degree and start into CPA courses.
What interested you about joining Avalon?
The freedom to be able to work from home, which allows me more time for my family and more flexibility with my school schedule. The company also seemed extremely advanced in terms of technology, and coming from a firm that still hand wrote tax returns it was like a breath of fresh air!
Other than fun times with spreadsheets and numbers, what activities do you enjoy in your spare time?
Golfing and hiking! I love the outdoors and we are always exploring a new waterfall hike or spending time on the course.
What would your friends say is the strangest thing about you?
Hmm, I like to study? My friends have never understood me being able to do school online- I’m very organized and genuinely enjoy bunkering down and studying on my own.
What was your favourite cartoon to watch when you were little and why?
Scooby-Doo! I’ve always loved animals and Scooby was always my favourite.
What movie or TV villain did you (or maybe still do) want to be?
Harley Quinn! She is THE movie badass.
If you were a water animal what would you be?
Sea Turtle - I just think they’re cool
