We’re proud to welcome to the stage our Senior Accountant Melissa! Melissa is responsible for reviewing bookkeeping, helping onboard new clients, and CRUSHING through year-ends. Melissa is great for being able to see through messy financials to solve the puzzle, and even better, she helps team members do the same. While we can go on gushing, I’ll stop and let Melissa tell you a bit more about herself.

Tell us a bit about your work and school background

I took an accounting course in high school and enjoyed the puzzle of balance sheets and account reconciliations (nerdy, I know!) so decided accounting was for me. I went to Camosun College for my BBA in Accounting, then straight into the CPA program. While I completed my CPA designation I worked at a small accounting firm in Victoria.

What interested you about joining Avalon?

I had worked with Paul during one of my co-op terms, so I knew he was a great accountant, leader, and jokester, but more importantly a great person. When I was looking for new opportunities he was the first person I called. Hearing his passion for Avalon and helping small businesses was inspiring! I really liked the way Avalon utilizes technology to save businesses time and energy on data entry so that it can be better spent providing real-time financial insight to help businesses reach their goals.
